materials:foil

January 13, 2011

Anselm Reyle uses reflective finishes and materials like aluminum foil, steel and mirror with bright and neon colors to intesify the compositional effects. By manupilating the light, tweaking the transparencies and emphasizing the details, Reyle interplays with dimensions.

Occupied with the history of formalism, Reyle goes back to the origins of abstraction, but yet he creates interesting surfaces by mixing modern materials and colors and finishes: phosphorescence, monochromatic, day-glo fluorescent, high gloss are some of the effects that he uses to jazz up his work.

In the stripe paintings, Reyle uses simple materials like foil, mirror, paste and bands of colors.
