TRULY AN UNBELIEVABLE GEM…A BIT OF NORWAY IN NORTHERN ONTARIO’S PRISTINE TEMAGAMI AREA!

You won’t believe you are in Northern Ontario when you see this Work of Love and Art and at the same time have the coziest 4 bedroom cottage to enjoy solitude on your own Island……or share it with family and friends. The Norwegian influenced architectural design, finishing touches and the honey coloured open pine ceilings and walls can only be appreciated by seeing this property. You won’t believe it!

The Island is approximately 3.5 acres and the waterway of Wilson Lake is approximately 270 acres with less than a dozen cottages on this spring fed lake.

As you approach the property you will be greeted by a newly built single boat house in 2007 which is surrounded by a deck on both sides. Adjoining the boat house is a 40’9” x 14’ deck…just the right size for storage of water toys, a canoe, a dingy and Muskoka chairs and lounges. A few stairs and a beautifully rounded huge rock section with scattered lichen and beautiful moss plus the leaning red and white pines grace the walkway to the 12’ in diameter parapet.

From this point you will enjoy many hours of socializing or just appreciating the amazing western sunsets. It will be your favourite spot as the sun sets for another relaxing tomorrow…….….just walking about the trails on the island, enjoying water sports, fishing or just curling up and reading quietly in the many areas of this “you’ll-be-proud-to-own” cottage. Bask in the sun or let the cool breezes from the many tall pines scattered on this island off you total seclusion, privacy and solitude. Shade is available due to the many tall and beautiful pine trees or utilize the installed rollag shutters inside the cottage’s living/dining area, family room and the screened-in-porch.

Further up the path is the outdoor 18’5” x 12’ sheltered BBQ. This is not your ordinary outdoor entertaining area! A heavily beamed construction , houses a sink, a ceramic top work section, the BBQ pit and grill as well as built-in-planters for herbs and flowers. Rain or shine, entertaining will certainly be enjoyable. The patio just off of the outdoor entertainment section is a large gathering area for guests and family.

The 15’6” x 7’7” screened-in-porch has an eating area for breakfast or light lunches to look over the gorgeous property and of course the waterfront view. A rattan love seat and a collection of other tasteful furniture are featured in this area of the cottage.

The porch will then lead you to a living/dining room and an entrance to the kitchen, the upstairs access to the loft or to the bedroom and family room areas.

The country kitchen with open cabinets houses the colourful dinnerware to the country decore of the antique island phone. An opportunity to view the lake while enjoying meal preparations for or with your friends and family. A pass-through is available in the kitchen to a front section of the porch, but the present owners have converted that completely windowed area into the fifth bedroom. The joining front porch is completely windowed, screened and once again offers sun protection from the rollag shutters.

The floor to ceiling stone fireplace in the living / dining room will make this room as cozy and as comfy as you wish. From this room, an upper open loft is attractively displayed by the hand made wooden railing up the stairs and across the upper floor of the loft. The second wood burning stone fire place is in the Family room just down the hall. Along the east and west sides of the room is a bank of multi pane windows. A library of books is good evidence that this cottage was graced with stress-free relaxation days and holidays……and now the books are waiting for you!

The cottage’s walls and ceilings are a rich honey coloured pine and blend in beautifully with the modern plush furnishings as well as the occasional antique furnishings. You will appreciate the time and effort put into the makings of the various interior pine doors for various closets and cupboards throughout the cottage.

The exterior walls of the cottage consist of one wall being a stone wall from the foundation up, a hand hewn cedar shingle wall as well as wood exterior walls. The builder added the flavour of the family coat of arms, insignias of Norway, sculpted and hand carved deer heads as well as the red and black trimmed windows which in places have the added touch of hand hewn and shellacked bark trim to complement the theme.

The cottage is not a regular rectangular or common shape and the areas of protection from wind, sun or shade are available due to the construction of the cottage’s framework.

The music lovers are not forgotten on this peaceful island…..the present owners will leave an organ and its accompanying Yamaha speakers for continued usage and evening enjoyment to end a perfect day for those with a music ability…..this unique and charming cottage offers so much!
